Every OTA booking costs you 15–25%. Your own site costs you nothing.

Guests routinely find you on a booking platform and then search your name directly to check you're real. That second visit is the cheapest booking you will ever get — if the site converts it.

What does a hotel website need?

A hotel website exists to convert the guest who has already found you on an OTA into a direct booking. That is a specific, winnable job, and it is worth 15–25% of every room night you shift.

The pattern is consistent: a traveller finds the property on a booking platform, then searches the hotel's name to verify it's genuine and see whether direct is cheaper. What they need at that moment is real photography of the actual rooms, honest rate information, clear location and transfer detail, and a booking path that isn't worse than the OTA they just left. Auren builds hotel and resort sites around that moment — room-type pages with their own URLs, an integrated booking engine, and Hotel and LodgingBusiness schema so amenities, ratings and price range can surface in search and in Google's travel surfaces.

The direct booking maths

OTA commission in India generally runs 15–25% depending on the platform and your negotiated rate. On a property doing ₹10 lakh a month through OTAs, shifting even a fifth of those bookings direct is roughly ₹30,000–₹50,000 a month that stops leaving the business.

You will not replace the OTAs, and you shouldn't try — they are genuinely effective distribution and they put you in front of people who have never heard of you. The realistic goal is to capture the guests who have already discovered you and are checking you out directly. Those bookings are being handed to the OTA by default, purely because the hotel's own site is worse than the alternative.

What makes a guest book direct

A reason that isn't just price

Rate parity agreements often prevent you undercutting the OTA outright. Value works instead and isn't restricted: free breakfast, early check-in, a room upgrade, airport transfer, late checkout. State it clearly next to the booking button.

Photography of the actual rooms

Every room type gets its own page with real photographs, real dimensions, and what's actually included. Guests comparing your site against an OTA listing are looking for information the OTA didn't give them.

A booking engine that isn't punishment

If your booking widget takes six seconds to load, breaks the back button, or opens in a new tab that looks nothing like the site, guests return to the OTA. This is the single most common leak on hotel websites in India.

Location detail an OTA won't give

Distance from the airport and station, what's walkable, how to get there, what the neighbourhood is actually like. This content also ranks — "resorts near Nandi Hills with pool" is a real search with real intent.

Hotel website questions

How much does a hotel website cost in India?

₹0 upfront with Auren. The property site is built and put on a live URL within 48 hours; a flat monthly subscription starts only if you keep it, covering hosting, domain, unlimited edits and SEO.

Can you integrate our booking engine?

Yes. Auren embeds your existing engine so it looks and behaves like part of the site rather than a jarring redirect — which is where most direct bookings are lost. If you don't have one yet, we'll walk through the options on the call.

How do we compete with OTAs on price if we have rate parity?

You generally can't undercut on room rate, but parity agreements don't cover value. Free breakfast, early check-in, upgrades, transfers and late checkout are all legitimate direct-only incentives. Check your specific contract terms, then state the incentive plainly next to the booking button.

Will the site help us rank for searches in our area?

Location and transfer content is genuinely rankable — searches like 'resorts near Nandi Hills with pool' have real volume and real intent. Combined with Hotel schema and a properly maintained Google Business Profile, that's where most direct discovery comes from.

We're a homestay, not a hotel. Does this apply?

Yes, and often more so — homestays depend more heavily on direct bookings and have thinner OTA margins. The structure is the same; there are just fewer room types.

Can you handle multiple properties?

Yes. Each property gets its own pages, address, schema and booking flow so each can rank in its own location rather than competing under one generic brand page.
